Portfolio Piece 5

About This Image: I worked over the summer for the Utah Olympic Park. I thought it would be fun to create a sample flyer that might be used to help bring in customer for the summer season. I wanted to design something that reflected the modern visitors center you see when you first walk into the Park. I like the harsh lines and bold color I used through the flyer.

Design Elements:

-Contrast: I used contrast in the color selection. The light grey makes the green color pop on the flyer.

-Repetition: The pictures on the bottom of the flyer create a repetitious pattern and flow on the flyer

-Alignment: all of the text is in alignment throughout the flyer

Photoshop Skills Used:

- Layers to create the overall layout of the flyer

- Text tools

- Selection tools to select certain parts of the pictures

- Shape Tool

Portfolio Piece 6

About This Image: For this Portfolio Piece I wanted to design something very clean cut and simple. I want my business cards to be aesthetically pleasing, but also not too busy that you miss the information.

Design Elements:

I liked the feel of the CONTRASTING colors between the black, white, and pink. I feel like those three colors play off each other well and are very COMPLEMENTARY of each other. I ALIGNED my name in the center of the card so it’s the first thing your eye goes to when you look at the front of the card. I also like the PROXIMITY of the watercolor in the center. It makes the design interesting with out being overwhelming. Then off center a little bit, is the phrase ‘videography + photography’ so people know exactly what services I am offering. For the TEXT on my business card I wanted to choose something fun, but also professional. The font that my name is written in is a modern calligraphy hand letting font called Sophia with a basic san serif font from Photoshop called rift regular for the videography + photography below.
